UPSSSC Junior Assistant: Typing Test, Syllabus and Salary

Typing test date: 30 October or 13 November 2026?

This is the question most candidates are asking ("junior assistant typing test kab hai"). Here is the honest position as of 15 October 2026:

• Some sources say the typing test starts on 30 October 2026.
• Other sources give a "new date" of 13 November 2026.
• We could not confirm either date on upsssc.gov.in. Both are reported by job sites and not confirmed by the commission.

What to do: open upsssc.gov.in, look in the latest notices for the Junior Assistant typing test notice, and read the date and centre printed on your own admit card (प्रवेश पत्र). Job sites also report that a typing test notice dated 16 September 2026 called 46,282 candidates. That figure is reported by job sites and not confirmed by the commission.

Posts, eligibility and fee

• Posts: 3,284 after two increase notices; the original advert had 2,702. The category tables on job sites do not add up, which is one more reason to check the official notice.
• PET: you needed a valid UPSSSC PET 2023 score to apply.

• Age: 18 to 40 years as on 1 July 2024.
• Fee: Rs 25.
• Application window: 23 December 2024 to 22 January 2025. The window is closed.

Selection process

Selection runs in this order:

1. UPSSSC PET (eligibility screening; the PET 2023 score was used for this advert).
2. Mains written exam, held on 1 February 2026 as per the UPSSSC calendar (news reports). Job sites report a 10 am to 12 noon slot, an answer key on 2 February and a revised key on 13 June 2026.
3. Typing test, qualifying only (date not confirmed; see above).
4. Document verification and medical, then the final selection list.

Job sites report the mains result on 15 September 2026. One job site gives 25 February 2026 instead, which is probably a different stage. Both are not confirmed by the commission. Passing the typing test does not mean final selection; DV and medical still follow.

Typing standard and how to practise

The reported standard is 25 words per minute in Hindi or 30 words per minute in English. This comes from a single job site and is not confirmed by the commission, so read the typing test notice for the exact speed, time, accuracy rule and keyboard layout.

Practical preparation that helps whatever the final rules are:

1. Pick your language early. Practise in the language you will choose on the day.
2. For Hindi typing, confirm the layout (for example, the layout and font named in the notice) and practise only on that layout.
3. Type passages, not single words. Use 10 minute passages from newspapers or government circulars.
4. Measure accuracy, not only speed. Typing tests usually deduct for mistakes, so a slower, clean passage beats a fast one full of errors.
5. Practise on a normal desktop keyboard, not a laptop or phone, to match a test centre setup.

Salary

Job sites report the pay as Rs 21,700 to 69,100 (Level 3). This is not confirmed by the commission; check the pay scale (वेतनमान) in the advertisement. The same scale is reported for UP Lekhpal, another UPSSSC post that needs PET. In-hand pay depends on allowances, so treat any exact monthly in-hand figure online as an estimate.

Every UPSSSC Group C exam now starts with the PET. News reports (lalluram, August 2026) said PET 2026 was scheduled for September 2026 in the UPSSSC calendar; the exact date was not verified by us.
