The dates below are from news reports (August 2026) based on the department's schedule. We could not open the official schedule ourselves, so confirm on scholarship.up.gov.in, because dates are sometimes extended.

Renewal means you got the scholarship last year and are continuing in the next year of the same or a linked course. Fresh means you are applying for the first time or starting a new course level.

What happened last year (2025-26)

Last year's dates help you understand how the schedule tends to move. These are reported by job sites and not confirmed by the department:

• Class 9 to 12 online last date was 30 October 2025, later extended to 6 December 2025.
• Dashmottar online last date was 20 December 2025, with the hard copy due by 24 December 2025.
• Disbursement started from 24 January 2026, with a second instalment for SC/ST students on 9 February 2026.

So extensions have happened before. But do not plan around an extension. Apply before the current last date, because an extension is never guaranteed.

How to apply on scholarship.up.gov.in

The exact menu labels on the portal could not be verified by us, so follow the names you see on screen. In general, the process goes like this:

1. Type scholarship.up.gov.in in your browser. Do not use links from unknown sites or messages.
2. Choose the correct section: Class 9 to 10 (pre-matric), Class 11 to 12, or Dashmottar (post-matric), and fresh or renewal.
3. Register (for fresh) or log in (for renewal) with your registration number, date of birth and password.
4. Fill your details exactly as on your Aadhaar, marksheet and bank passbook.
5. Upload the documents asked for, and submit the form online.
6. Print the final form. If the portal or your institution asks for a hard copy, submit it to your school or college by the given date.
7. Check later that your institution has verified and forwarded your application.

UP Scholarship status check: step by step

The steps below are the commonly described method, reported by job sites and not confirmed by the department; the portal may label things differently.

1. Open scholarship.up.gov.in.
2. Choose the correct section (Class 9 to 12 or Dashmottar) and the student login.
3. Enter your registration number, date of birth and password, and the captcha.
4. Open the application status or print view to see where your form is: submitted, verified by the institution, or forwarded.
5. After the disbursement window, track the payment on PFMS (the Public Financial Management System) as well.

If you forget your registration number, look at the printout you took when you submitted the form. That is why printing the final form matters.

Job sites list these helplines: 1800-180-5131 (Backward Class Welfare) and 1800-180-5229 (Minority Welfare). They are not confirmed by the department, so check the numbers shown on the portal itself.

Common reasons a scholarship form gets stuck or rejected

This is general advice based on how online scholarship forms usually fail, not an official list. Check each point before you submit:

• Name or date of birth mismatch between the form, Aadhaar, marksheet and bank account.
• Wrong bank details, or a bank account that is inactive or not linked as required.
• Wrong category or section, for example choosing fresh instead of renewal.
• Hard copy not submitted to the institution when it is required, or submitted late.
• Institution has not verified your form. Ask your school or college office to check.
• Wrong income, caste or marks details that do not match the certificates you upload.
• Applying after the last date, which usually cannot be fixed later.

If your status shows a problem, contact your institution first, because many corrections must go through them.

Stay safe: scholarship scams

Scholarship season brings fake messages that promise faster payment for a fee, or ask for OTP and bank details. The department's portal is scholarship.up.gov.in.
