Lekhpal (लेखपाल), officially Rajasva Lekhpal, is the village-level revenue official in Uttar Pradesh who keeps land records. Recruitment is done by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC). Because it is one of the biggest UPSSSC drives, almost every UP aspirant searches for "lekhpal vacancy" and "lekhpal ki salary kitni hoti hai".
The current cycle is Advertisement 02-Exam/2025. According to news reports (May 2026), the mains exam was held on 21 May 2026. Job sites report that the mains result came on 11 September 2026 and that a document upload window ran in late September; these figures are not confirmed by the commission here, so check the official notice. As of 15 October 2026, no final selection list has been reported. Official notices appear only on upsssc.gov.in.
Who can apply: the PET rule
You cannot apply for Lekhpal directly. UPSSSC first holds the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET), and only candidates with a valid PET score can apply for its Group C mains exams such as Lekhpal and Junior Assistant.
- For this cycle, applicants needed to have qualified UPSSSC PET 2025 (reported by job sites; some sites wrongly say PET 2026).
- Shortlisting for mains was based on PET score. According to news reports (February 2026), the PET cut-off for Lekhpal mains was 55.12 for UR, OBC, EWS and SC, and 47.50 for ST.
- Qualification is Intermediate (10+2) and age 18 to 40 as on 1 July 2025 (reported by job sites; not confirmed by the commission, check the official notice).
According to news reports (August 2026), PET 2026 was scheduled for September 2026 in the UPSSSC calendar; the exact date was not verified. Future Lekhpal drives will depend on that score, so do not skip PET if you want this post. PET has its own photo and signature size rules; see our photo and signature resizer.

How to check updates safely
Lekhpal is a high-competition post, and fake "selection" messages and paid "merit list" links appear every cycle. Follow these rules:
- Check notices only on upsssc.gov.in. Results and lists are normally published as PDFs in the notice or result section.
- Never pay anyone who promises a seat, a better rank or a district of your choice.
- Keep your registration number, PET roll number and date of birth handy for any login. Our admit card and login guide covers common problems.
- Read our fake job alert guide if a message looks suspicious.
