Rojgar Samachar (रोजगार समाचार) is the Hindi name of Employment News, a weekly journal of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. Its office, headed by a Director General, is in New Delhi. It was launched in 1976 and is available across the country every Saturday.

For decades it has been the place where central ministries, defence units and other government offices have printed their recruitment adverts. Even now, when most big exams run online, many smaller posts, especially ones with offline application forms, are advertised here, and the advert date in Employment News often decides your last date. This guide covers the official prices, how to subscribe, and how to read an issue so you do not miss a job you qualify for.

Languages and editions

The journal comes in three languages, according to its official site:

  • English: Employment News.
  • Hindi: Rozgar Samachar (also written Rojgar Samachar).
  • Urdu: Rozgar Samachar.

The e-version (digital edition) is available in English and Hindi. The site lists the Publications Division as the publisher. If you read in Urdu, you will need the print edition.

How to subscribe

  1. Open the subscription section of employmentnews.gov.in.
  2. Choose print (ordinary or with tracking) or the e-version, and the period.
  3. Pay online through Bharatkosh, card or net banking, or offline by cheque, demand draft or IMO, as described on the site.
  4. For the e-version, watch for an activation email, which the site says comes within 48 hours.
  5. Keep your payment receipt and subscription details safe.

Two rules to know before you pay: the site says subscriptions cannot be cancelled or refunded, and print copies are delivered by the Department of Posts by ordinary or magazine post. The print order is finalised every Friday and delivery starts on Saturday, so a copy by post can reach you a few days after the issue date, depending on where you live. If timing matters, the e-version is the faster option.

How to read an issue for jobs

An issue can carry many adverts, and it is easy to miss the right one. A simple method:

  1. Note the issue dates printed on the cover. Many adverts count their last date from the date of publication in Employment News.
  2. Scan by qualification, not by department. Mark every post that matches your education, such as 10th, 12th, ITI or graduate.
  3. Check age and category. Look at the age limit and the cut-off date for age in each advert.
  4. Find the mode: online on a portal, or offline by post. For offline forms, note the exact address and how the envelope must be marked.
  5. Write the last date in your calendar, counting from the publication date if the advert says so.
  6. Confirm on the department's official site before you apply or pay any fee.

Readers looking for entry-level posts can also use our lists of 10th pass government jobs and 12th pass government jobs.

Stay safe. Government jobs are never sold. Ignore anyone who asks for money for selection, an appointment letter or a 'setting'. Check every notice on the official site of the commission or board; job links on social media can be fake.

Example: an offline advert from 2026

Here is how one real advert worked, according to news reports (July 2026). The Indian Air Force HQ Maintenance Command advertised 6 MTS posts (Advt 02/2026) in the Employment News issue of 27 June to 3 July 2026. The application had to reach the unit within 30 days of publication. Candidates had to write the post applied for on the envelope and attach self-attested copies of documents and a photo.

Notice three things in this example: the deadline is counted from the issue, not from when you read it; it is the date the form must reach the office, not the posting date; and the envelope rules are strict. Late or incomplete forms are usually rejected, so post early and keep your postal receipt. Our offline vacancy form guide explains filling and posting step by step, and some adverts ask for a bio-data in their own format, for which our sarkari resume maker can help.

Free PDF sites: be careful

Many websites and social media channels share a "Rojgar Samachar PDF" each week. Be careful with them:

  • They are not official. Pages can be missing, old issues can be relabelled as new, and adverts can be edited.
  • Some carry fake adverts or links that ask for a registration fee. Government advisories warn that a government logo alone does not prove an advert is genuine, and that demands for money for medical tests, document verification or "guaranteed selection" are red flags.
  • Never share OTPs, Aadhaar details or bank details with anyone who contacts you about a job.

The official e-version costs Rs 400 a year, and every advert should in any case be confirmed on the recruiting department's own website. If you spot a suspicious advert, our fake job alert guide lists how to report it to PIB Fact Check.

Employment News this week: what to check first

When a new issue arrives on Saturday, spend ten minutes on this checklist:

  • Any advert from a department you are already preparing for.
  • Adverts whose last date falls within the next 21 to 30 days, as many offline adverts give that much time from publication.
  • Corrigenda (corrections) to adverts from earlier weeks, which can change dates or post counts.

Combine the journal with the official websites of the big recruiters, which carry their own notices. Start from our home page for current exam status pages.
