Every recruitment and board exam issues an admit card before the exam, and the process is similar almost everywhere. This guide covers the login details you need, step-by-step download, forgotten passwords, what to carry and photo problems.

- SSC

- Downloading an admit card is free; never pay for it
An admit card (प्रवेश पत्र, also called hall ticket or call letter) is your entry pass to the exam hall. It shows your roll number, exam date, shift, reporting time and centre. Without it, you are not allowed in.
Most exams no longer post admit cards. You download them from the conducting body's official site, usually shortly before the exam; the exact release date is in each body's notice. This guide explains the common method, the differences between SSC, UPSC, IBPS, RRB and school boards, and what to do when something goes wrong. sangam25.com is an independent guide; the card itself only ever comes from the official site.
What you need before you start
Across SSC, RRB, IBPS and UPSC, the login pattern is almost the same:
- Registration number or application number (or, for some exams, your roll number).
- Date of birth or password, exactly as entered in your form.
- Captcha, the letters or numbers shown on screen.
Also keep handy: the email and mobile number you registered with (for OTP or password reset), and a printer or a cyber cafe nearby. Make sure the photo on the printout is clear.
Admit card kaise download kare: step by step
- Open the official site of the body conducting your exam. Type the address yourself; do not follow links in forwarded messages.
- Find the admit card section. It may be called "Admit Card", "e-Admit Cards" or "Call Letter", often on the home page or in the latest news.
- Choose your exam and, if asked, your region or post.
- Enter your login details and the captcha, then submit.
- Check every detail on screen: name, photo, date, shift, centre address and reporting time.
- Download the PDF and save it in two places, such as your phone and email.
- Print it on plain A4 paper. Take a second print as a spare.
If the site is slow on the first day, try early morning or late night. Many portals keep the card available until the exam date, but download it early.
Exam-wise differences
| Body | Where | Login | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| UPSC | upsc.gov.in, "e-Admit Cards" | Registration ID or roll number + DOB | e-admit card only; nothing is posted |
| SSC | ssc.gov.in | OTR registration number + password | The new site replaced ssc.nic.in in 2024 and needed a fresh OTR |
| IBPS | ibps.in | Registration number + DOB or password | A separate call letter for each stage |
| RRB | Regional RRB sites and the apply portal | Registration number + DOB | Exam city slip comes first, then the e-call letter |
| School boards | Through your school | School login | Regular students get the card from the school |
Example of the RRB sequence: for Group D CEN 09/2025, the city slip came on 24 July 2026 and the e-call letter on 31 July 2026, before the CBT in August (news reports). See our pages on RRB Group D, UPSC admit card and IBPS and SBI admit cards for current status, and the CBSE and MP Board pages for school exams.
Forgot registration number or password?
This is the most common problem. Try these steps in order:
- Search your email for words like "registration", "application" or the exam name. Most portals send a confirmation email with your number.
- Check your SMS from the time you applied.
- Look at your saved form or fee receipt PDF. The number is usually printed at the top.
- Use the recovery option on the login page. SSC is reported to offer "Forgot Password" (OTP to your registered mobile or email) and a forgotten registration number option, and UPSC is reported to offer "Forgot Registration ID". These are reported by job sites; the exact labels are not confirmed by us, so look for them on the official login page.
- Contact the conducting body through the helpline or contact details on its official site. For SSC, the regional offices are reported as a fallback.
Never give your password or OTP to a cyber cafe operator or a "helper" on WhatsApp. Log in yourself.
What to carry on exam day
- Printed admit card. Read the instructions on it; they are the binding rules for that exam.
- Original valid photo ID, such as Aadhaar, voter ID, PAN card, passport or driving licence. The name and date of birth must match the admit card.
- One or two passport-size photos, if the admit card asks for them.
- Anything else listed on the card, such as a pen of a certain colour.
Do not carry mobile phones, smart watches, earphones or other electronic items. Reach before the gate closing time printed on the card; late arrivals may not be let in. SSC is reported to exempt candidates who completed Aadhaar authentication from bringing photo ID and photos (reported by job sites for CHSL 2026; check your own admit card).
Photo mismatch and wrong details
If the photo on the admit card is unclear, not yours, or looks very different from you today, act before exam day:
- Contact the conducting body through its official helpline or email, and keep a record of your complaint.
- Carry extra photos and your ID on the day, and tell the invigilator calmly.
- Look like your photo. A big change in beard, spectacles or hairstyle can cause delays at frisking.
Many bodies now take a live photo. SSC captures your photo live through a webcam or phone in the application (news reports, Careers360). Job sites report that SSC candidates who did Aadhaar authentication are exempt from photo-mismatch rejection, and that RRB also takes a live photo at the exam centre; both are not officially confirmed by us. For new forms, prepare correct files with our photo and signature resizer.
For a name or date of birth error, ask the conducting body for written guidance before the exam. School students should go through their principal.
Fake admit card sites and messages
Admit cards are always free. Be suspicious of any site or message that asks for money, an OTP, Aadhaar or bank details to "release" your card. PIB Fact Check advises verifying everything on the official site and not trusting a page just because it uses a government logo (news reports, Outlook Money, August 2026). We found no evidence that "sscgd.gov.in" is an official SSC address; SSC GD admit cards come from ssc.gov.in. Read our fake job alert guide and, after the exam, our answer key objection guide.
Questions and answers
Admit card kaise download kare mobile se?
Open the official site of your exam in your phone browser, find the admit card or call letter link, enter your registration number, date of birth or password and the captcha, then download the PDF. Save it to your phone and email it to yourself. You still need a paper printout for the exam hall, so print it at home or a cyber cafe.
Registration number bhool gaye, admit card kaise nikale?
Search your email and SMS from the time you applied, and check the saved application form or fee receipt, where the number is usually printed. If that fails, use the forgot registration number or forgot password option on the official login page, which sends details to your registered mobile or email. As a last step, contact the conducting body's official helpline.
Is a printout of the admit card compulsory?
For almost all recruitment and board exams, yes. You must carry a printed copy along with an original photo ID. Do not rely on a copy on your phone, because phones are generally not allowed inside the hall. Read the instructions on your own admit card, because some exams also ask for extra photos.
Which ID proof is valid with the admit card?
Commonly accepted IDs are Aadhaar, voter ID, PAN card, passport and driving licence. The name and date of birth on the ID should match your admit card. The exact list is printed on each admit card or in the exam notice, so check it. Carry the original, not a photocopy, unless the notice says otherwise.
My photo on the admit card is not clear. What should I do?
Contact the conducting body through the helpline or email on its official site before exam day, and keep a record. On the day, carry extra passport-size photos and your original photo ID, and explain to the invigilator. Many exams now also take a live photo at the centre, so your face is checked against the record.
Is any website allowed to charge for admit card download?
No. Admit cards are issued free on the official site of the conducting body. Any site, agent or message asking for a fee, OTP or bank details to send your admit card is a scam. Report fake messages to PIB Fact Check and download only from the official address you typed yourself.
