UP TGT PGT Exam: Dates, Admit Card and Result Status

UPESSC replaced UPSESSB

Until recently TGT and PGT exams were run by the UP Secondary Education Service Selection Board (UPSESSB, upsessb.org). The 2022 adverts were issued by that board. The work has now moved to the UP Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) in Prayagraj, according to news reports from January 2026. Search for "UPESSC" as well as "UPSESSB" when you look for notices, and use upessc.up.gov.in as the starting point.

Be careful with old bookmarks and forwarded links. Many sites still show old UPSESSB pages. Read our guide to fake job alerts if a link asks you for money or OTPs.

The 2022 cycle: posts, eligibility and fee

According to news reports from 9 June 2022, the 2022 recruitment had 4,163 posts:

One headline from that time said 3,529 TGT posts, but the male and female split adds up to 3,539, so 3,529 looks like a typo.

• Eligibility: TGT needs graduation plus B.Ed. PGT needs a post-graduate degree in the subject plus B.Ed.
• Fee (2022): Gen/OBC Rs 750, EWS Rs 650, SC Rs 450, ST Rs 250.
• Applications: 9 June to 9 July 2022. Registration closed 3 July and fee payment 6 July.

The application window closed long ago. No new applications are taken for the 2022 cycle.

PGT 2022 status

The PGT written exam was held on 9 and 10 May 2026. The written result came on 2 June 2026 as subject-wise lists for male and female candidates. News reports said 1,92,934 people had applied and 2,253 were shortlisted for interview. The interview schedule came out on 3 June 2026, with call letters due about 10 days before each interview.

Job sites report a PGT final result on 7 July 2026, an answer key on 12 May with objections until 18 May, and total marks of 425 including interview. These points are reported by job sites and not confirmed by the commission, so check the official notice on upessc.up.gov.in before relying on them.

TGT 2022 status and the Hindi and English delay

The TGT exam took place on 3 and 4 June 2026 on OMR sheets. According to Careers360 Hindi (updated 27 August 2026), the steps after the exam were:

1. Exam city slip on 23 May 2026 and admit card (प्रवेश पत्र) on 30 May 2026.
2. Result for document verification shortlisting on 30 June 2026.
3. Document verification from 9 to 17 July 2026 at UPESSC, Prayagraj.
4. Final subject-wise result with cut-offs on 28 July 2026.
5. Revised result on 23 August 2026, and a revised Sanskrit result on 26 August 2026.

Hindi and English: job sites report that the TGT Hindi and English results are held up by High Court litigation, and one says TGT English (557 posts) is withheld. This is not confirmed by the commission. If you appeared in these subjects, watch the commission's notices rather than social media.

Job sites also report that colleges were allotted on 9 September 2026 to 2,373 candidates in 13 subjects. Again, this is not confirmed by the commission.

UP TGT and PGT 2026: what is confirmed

This is where most confusion is. As of 15 October 2026:

• PGT Advt 06/2026 (2,607 posts): reported by several job sites, which agree with each other, with applications from 18 September to 17 October 2026, corrections by 21 October, exam on 15 and 16 December 2026, age 21 to 62 and fee Rs 1,500 (Gen/OBC/EWS), Rs 750 (SC/ST), Rs 500 (PwD). No major news outlet confirmed it in our checks. Reported by job sites; not confirmed by the commission, so check the official notice before you pay.
• TGT 2026: not confirmed as notified. A proposed calendar reported in late September 2026 listed a TGT advert on 29 September and an exam on 23 and 24 December 2026, and job sites expect about 17,740 posts, but we could not confirm that any advert was issued. Do not treat these dates as announced.
• Big vacancy headlines such as "23,000+" or "85,000" posts were estimates, not adverts.

The reported new PGT pattern has 120 MCQs (30 GK, 90 subject), 360 marks with +3 and minus 1, plus a 40-mark interview, for 400 in total. Negative marking would be new. Treat this as unconfirmed until you read the advert.

Exam pattern and pay (unconfirmed)

Job sites describe the 2022 written exam as 125 MCQs for 500 marks in 2 hours with no negative marking. They give pay as TGT Level 7 (Rs 44,900 to 1,42,400) and PGT Level 8 (Rs 47,600 to 1,51,100). These figures are reported by job sites and not confirmed by the commission; check the advert.

Remember that the 2022 PGT exam came almost four years after the advert. If you are preparing for a new cycle, plan for possible delays, and keep certificates, B.Ed marksheets and your photo and signature files ready so you can apply quickly when an advert does open.

Admit card, answer key and result: how to check

For UPESSC exams, admit cards, answer keys and results are posted on the commission's site. The usual steps are:

1. Open upessc.up.gov.in and find the notice for your exam and advert number (for example TGT 01/2022).
2. Log in with your registration number and date of birth or password.
3. Download and print the admit card, or open the subject-wise result PDF.
4. Search your roll number in the PDF (Ctrl+F on a computer or Find on a phone browser).

Exact menu labels could not be checked because the site blocks automated access. For general tips read our admit card download guide and our answer key objection guide. Other UP recruitments with live status include UPSSSC Lekhpal and UPSSSC Junior Assistant.
