Bihar Daroga (BPSSC SI): Exam Status, Height and Syllabus

Bihar Daroga 2025 to 26: what happened, step by step

The advertisement was issued on 23 September 2025 and the online form opened on 25/26 September 2025. According to news reports (September 2025), applications ran from 26 September to 26 October 2025 with a fee of Rs 100.

The prelims admit card (प्रवेश पत्र) came on 29 December 2025 and the prelims were held on 18 and 21 January 2026. The prelims result was published on 16 March 2026. According to news reports (September 2026), 35,857 candidates qualified for the mains.

The mains notice and admit card followed on 30 April and 12 May 2026. As reported, the mains was held on 27 May 2026, with General Hindi in the first shift and General Studies in the second. The mains result was published on 19 June 2026, and on 12 August 2026 BPSSC issued the PET, e-admit card and document verification notice. On 28 August the PET was postponed, and on 23 September the mains itself was cancelled.

Why was the Bihar Daroga mains cancelled?

The official notice of 23 September 2026 cites "unavoidable reasons" and the integrity of the exam. That is all the notice title itself says.

According to news reports (September 2026), the background includes:

• allegations that 301 candidates seated in consecutive rows at 79 centres all passed;
• an FIR against a solver gang;
• question papers and OMR sheets circulating online.

These are reported allegations, not findings. Two days earlier, on 21 September 2026, BPSSC also put out a notice rebutting fake news about the PSI post. That is a good reminder to trust only the commission's notice board, not WhatsApp forwards or YouTube thumbnails. Our fake job alert guide explains how to spot false notices.

What we do not know yet: the date of the fresh mains, whether the format will change, and when the postponed PET will be held. We have not seen an official notice explaining exactly how the re-exam will work, so treat any claimed date as a rumour until it appears on bpssc.bihar.gov.in.

Posts, eligibility and pay (as reported)

According to news reports (September 2025), the advertisement has 1,799 posts, with 614 (35%) for women. The reported category split is below.

Qualification: graduation in any discipline, as reported. Age: 20 to 37 for men and 20 to 40 for women, as on 1 August 2025, according to news reports (September 2025). Higher limits for BC/EBC (40) and SC/ST (42) are reported by job sites; not confirmed by the commission, check the official notice.

Pay: Level 6, as reported. The scale of Rs 35,400 to 1,12,400 is reported by job sites; not confirmed by the commission, check the official notice.

Bihar Daroga height and physical standards

Many people search "bihar daroga height" (लंबाई). The figures below are reported by job sites; not confirmed by the commission, check the official notice. They are consistent across the sources we checked, but we could not see them in an official PDF.

As reported, the PET is qualifying only, so it does not add marks to your merit. With the PET postponed, use the waiting time to keep up your running practice.

Bihar Daroga syllabus and exam pattern

The pattern below is reported by job sites; not confirmed by the commission, check the official notice. It matches the usual BPSSC SI format.

• Prelims: 100 MCQs, 200 marks, 2 hours, general knowledge and current affairs. 0.2 negative marking, 30% minimum to qualify, and 20 times the vacancies go to mains.
• Mains Paper 1, General Hindi: 100 questions, 200 marks, qualifying at 30%.
• Mains Paper 2, General Studies: General Science, Civics, History, Geography, Maths and Mental Ability. This paper counts for merit.
• After mains: PST/PET (6 times the vacancies), document verification and medical.

The reported mains shifts (Hindi first, GS second) fit this structure. Since a fresh mains is pending, revise both papers, not only GS. For admit card tips once the new date comes, see our admit card download guide.

New cycle: Special Branch SI, Advt 09/2026

BPSSC has also started a separate recruitment: Police Sub-Inspector (General Closed Cadre), Special Branch, Advt 09/2026. The notice board shows the advertisement dated 3 July 2026 and the online application opening on 8/9 July 2026.

A total of 150 posts and a closing date of 9 August 2026 are reported by job sites; not confirmed by the commission, check the official notice. The prelims date for this cycle has not been announced. Do not confuse this smaller drive with the 1,799-post Advt 05/2025.

If you are comparing police SI jobs in other states, our MP Police SI page covers the MPESB cycles.

How to check BPSSC notices

1. Open the official site, bpssc.bihar.gov.in, on your phone or computer.
2. Look at the notice board on the home page. Notices appear with a date and title.
3. Find notices that mention Advt 05/2025 (or 09/2026 for Special Branch).
4. Open the PDF and read the full text, not only the headline.
5. Save or screenshot the notice with its date for your records.
6. Check again every few days. Ignore dates that appear only on social media.
