The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) runs the Civil Services Exam (CSE), NDA, CDS, ESE, CAPF and other central exams. For all of them, the admit card (प्रवेश पत्र) is an e-Admit Card that you download yourself from upsc.gov.in. As standard UPSC practice, no paper admit card is sent by post.

How to download the UPSC e-admit card
According to news reports (September 2026), the steps are:
- Open the official site, upsc.gov.in.
- Go to the "e-Admit Cards" section.
- Choose your exam (for example Civil Services Preliminary, NDA and NA, or CDS) and click its link.
- Log in with your Registration ID or Roll Number, plus your date of birth.
- Check every detail: name, photo, signature, roll number, exam centre address and timing.
- Download the PDF and take a clear printout. Keep a spare copy.

Forgot Registration ID or facing a problem?
A "Forgot Registration ID" option on the UPSC portal is reported by job sites; not confirmed by the commission, check the official notice. You can usually also log in with your roll number instead of the Registration ID, if you have it from an earlier email or acknowledgment.
- Check your email inbox and spam folder for the UPSC application acknowledgment.
- Make sure you enter your date of birth exactly as in your application.
- If the photo or signature on the admit card is wrong or blurred, contact UPSC through the contact details in the exam notice quickly, before the exam.
- Never pay an agent or website to "get" your admit card. It is free on upsc.gov.in.

What to carry on UPSC exam day
- Printed e-admit card.
- Original valid photo ID such as Aadhaar, voter ID, PAN, passport or driving licence, with name and date of birth matching the admit card. The admit card instructions list the IDs accepted for that exam.
- Passport size photos if your admit card asks for them (one or two is common).
- Only the items the admit card instructions allow.
Reach the centre well before the gate closing time printed on the card. Mobile phones and electronic items are not allowed. Read the instructions page of the e-admit card fully, because UPSC lists exam-specific rules there.
CSE 2026: where things stand now
According to news reports (June 2026), the Civil Services prelims were held on 24 May 2026 and the result came on 15 June 2026, with 13,343 candidates qualifying for the mains. The mains began on 21 August 2026 and ran for five days. Vacancies were reported as 1,016; verify this figure against the official notice.
The mains result is pending. As reported, it is expected around November to December 2026, followed by the interview (personality test). Interview details for those who qualify will be published on upsc.gov.in, so keep checking.
A big change this year: UPSC released a provisional answer key soon after the CSE 2026 prelims. According to news reports (May 2026), candidates could submit representations through the Online Question Paper Representation Portal (QPRep) until 31 May 2026. The e-admit card for each exam usually comes a short time before the exam date. Exact release dates are announced separately, so none are given here.
NDA and CDS admit card and results, 2026
According to news reports, CDS I 2026 was held on 12 April 2026 and its result came on 8 May 2026. NDA I was also on 12 April 2026 per the UPSC 2026 calendar, though we could not re-verify it separately.
For the second cycle, the NDA II and CDS II e-admit cards came on 3 September 2026 and both exams were held on 13 September 2026, as reported. A CDS II answer key on 16 September 2026 was reported by Careers360. The NDA II and CDS II results are not out yet as of 15 October 2026.

- Do not trust "admit card leaked" or "centre change" messages on WhatsApp.

I forgot my UPSC Registration ID. What should I do?
Try logging in with your Roll Number and date of birth instead. Search your email for the application acknowledgment, which shows the Registration ID. A Forgot Registration ID option on the portal is reported by job sites; check the official site. Never pay anyone to recover it.
